an ecstasy of fumbling

i crave your fingers, your smile, your hair wrapped delicately around my fingers.
screaming and beautiful, you wander here and there with adoration, absolved,
fumbling around those you cared for.
beads of perspired light have left rainbows where sweat and tears would have been, draped over all the places in between paris and san francisco, tracing your footprint into the earth like when giants roamed long ago.

coffee and cigarettes guide the way.
tomorrow whiskey on my breath and dancing with you.
carefree moving, sun will come to soothe the pale skin, draping you with careless abandon.
your little nose and all that goes with it.
insecure and delight.
inside, a terrible knowing that this is it,
scares us both.

cohen flipped

I hated you last night, our punches light and cold,
your feet upon the pillow like a blackened storm,
no, many hated before us, I don't know that we are old,
in field and in ocean they frowned like you and me,
but now it has come to short places and both of us must try,
your hands are hard with joy,
Hey, that is surely a way to say hello.
I'm looking for another as i stay put in time,
stand there on the edge, our steps will never rhyme
you don't know my hate goes with you as your hate stays with me,
it's just the way it stays the same, like the plain and the land,

but let's be silent of hate or freedom and things we can untie,
your hands are hard with joy,
Hey, that is surely a way to say hello.
