an ecstasy of fumbling

i crave your fingers, your smile, your hair wrapped delicately around my fingers.
screaming and beautiful, you wander here and there with adoration, absolved,
fumbling around those you cared for.
beads of perspired light have left rainbows where sweat and tears would have been, draped over all the places in between paris and san francisco, tracing your footprint into the earth like when giants roamed long ago.

coffee and cigarettes guide the way.
tomorrow whiskey on my breath and dancing with you.
carefree moving, sun will come to soothe the pale skin, draping you with careless abandon.
your little nose and all that goes with it.
insecure and delight.
inside, a terrible knowing that this is it,
scares us both.
